Termites are often called “silent destroyers” because they can cause significant damage to your home without you even realizing it. Knowing the common signs of a termite infestation can help you take action quickly, minimizing damage and costs. Here are some telltale signs you might have termites:

1. Mud Tubes

Mud tubes act as protective tunnels for termites, allowing them to travel between their nest and food sources. These tubes are typically found on exterior walls, foundation walls, and other structural surfaces. If you spot mud tubes around your home, it’s a strong indicator you might have a termite problem.

2. Discarded Wings

Termites swarm during certain times of the year to establish new colonies. After swarming, they shed their wings. If you find piles of discarded wings near windowsills, doors, or other entry points, this is a clear sign that termites are present.

3. Hollow-Sounding Wood

Termites eat wood from the inside out, leaving a thin veneer on the surface. Tap on wood structures in your home; if they sound hollow or papery, you might have termite damage.

4. Frass (Termite Droppings)

Drywood termites leave behind small, pellet-like droppings called frass. These can accumulate near infested wood. If you notice piles of what looks like sawdust, it could be frass.
