Why Did Termites Invade My Home?

Why Did Termites Invade My Home?

When you notice that you have termites invading your Gilbert home, you’re in a serious problem. However, in order to fix it, you need to know a little more about termites.

The different types of termites

There are mainly three different types of termites that like to invade your home – the dampwood termites, the drywood termites, and the subterranean termites. Each one of these types is attracted by different thins that you have around your Gilbert home. In what concerns the dampwood and drywood termites, they live inside the wood they eat. The subterranean termites prefer to come in and out of the wood they eat and they usually live in large groups.

Why did termites invade your home?

Termites are naturally attracted by wood but depending on the types of termites, their wood preferences varies. While dampwood termites prefer woods with moist, the drywood termites prefer woods that are already dry.

Subterranean termites will basically infest any kind of wood that you have in contact with the ground but the nearby soil needs to be moisture. Since these last type of termite keeps moving around, they basically create a mud tube that allows them to easily move from the soil to the wood.

One of the main factors that determines the termites presence in your home is the weather. If you live in an area with warm weather and a consistent humidity, you are more likely to have a termite invasion.
